Hello, hello, hello! This report is waaaaay overdo, I know. Because of the current 30-day challenge, posting every day in September, this report remained on the back burner for a little while.
If you are new here, welcome to my third blog traffic report. In these blog traffic reports, I try to show you how my traffic did in the past month and a sum result of how the blog is doing thus far.
Here is the last one, for your viewing pleasure.
I do this for a few reasons:
It helps me keep track of my own progress
It creates a reference point for me to look back and expand on
It shows whoever is starting out their blogging journey to know what to expect
It can be quite inspiring to know you are not alone in whatever stage you are
Some things that are important to notice:
I use Wix as my chosen blogging software because I like the ease of messing with it. Besides, I like other features such as their SEO Assistant. I saw their ads, had already heard about them, tried it out, and liked it, simple as that.
I don't use any type of paid traffic, as I plan to develop this blog organically for as long as I see fit.
I only use Pinterest to promote my posts but am thinking about expanding to Instagram
Let's dive into this month's blog traffic report
For reference, I started the blog on May 22nd 2023, so I start the traffic report analysis on the 23rd of the previous month and end it on the 22nd of the present month.
Site sessions: 4 site sessions
Unique visitors: 4
Avd. session duration: 36s
And as you can tell, this is my worst month yet. Even worse than my first month.
As I talked about in my previous post, I'm getting deeper and deeper into the Ghost Town Phase, as the search engines are still getting to know my blog. During this month, I also spent several days without a post because I was preparing myself for the 30-day challenge, so I guess my lack of activity took a toll on my metrics.
I did, however, start doing something new, which I hope will prove to be beneficial in the months to come.
I verified the blog in Google's Search Console and indexed all of the pages I've ever written here, blogposts or otherwise. This is to make sure my pages are searchable and accessible to anyone.
One other plus is that I'll be getting insight as to what search terms or keywords the blog showed up for, and what were the most accessed posts, so I can begin working with actual and more accurate visitor data. Cross your fingers with me, will you?
You might notice that, although the blog hasn't seen much movement this past month, all of my blog posts have at least 2 views, due to the Google bot indexing my pages. I personally feel better looking at my view count and knowing none of them have 0 views. Makes it less daunting.
My metrics on Pinterest
Although this was my worst month yet for the blog, it was the best for Pinterest. This was the month I got the most engagement, followers, and had 3 pins go sort-of-semi-sub-viral.
That peak was the week I published my 3 most popular pins.
On that note, I noticed that I get the most movement in my account with Idea Pins, not the normal simple Pins we are used to, so I've been investing more of my time better designing them on Canva.
Platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, Tiktok, and Youtube, to name a few, tend to push forward their newest features. Think Reels and Shorts, for instance.
Pinterest's newest feature is Idea Pins, so that's what I'm focusing on.
It might not seem like a lot of impressions, but keep in mind most of my Pins have around 30 to 50 impressions, so that was significant.
Things I want to try for next time
Instead of putting the text in Canva, I'll try to put the text directly into Pinterest while editing the Pin, to see if it helps with SEO. If Pinterest knows what's written, instead of it just being an image, maybe it will push it to a better and bigger audience?
Back to the blog and the final bigger picture
Even though this was not such a great month, growth is still growth, even if it's slow.
Site sessions: 59 site sessions
Unique visitors: 30
Avd. session duration: 1m 47s
I got 4 more site sessions and 4 more unique visitors. I've also expanded the list of countries my visitors come from, which is pretty neat.
And that's it for August! How did your blog perform this month? Let me know!
