One month anniversary

June 22nd marked the end of my first month blogging, and let me tell you, it did not feel like a month. As I was speaking about the blog to someone this week, I said it had only been published for two or so weeks, but later, when I checked back, a month and a week had already passed.

I started researching blogging as a side hustle, and all the in and outs of making an income from it. As I love writing, I wouldn't mind dedicating time to it. I find that being able to expose and discuss my take on the things around me in my journey of finding a healthy and fulfilling career path is a very good side-income contestant and that's what got me thinking.

I watched many hours of YouTube videos about blog promotion strategies, how long it takes to monetize, and what to expect from the first month, 6 months, and first year of blogging. How do other bloggers compare, what was their first income report like, and what were their views like?

Why a traffic report?

On the views part, I was fully basing myself on surveys and data from other blogging teachers and Reddit, but I failed to find posts talking about what other bloggers' actual first month of blogging was like outside the financial lenses. So this is what I plan to do today. Both to start tracking my progress and to maybe inspire you in the future to pursue your desires, even when faced with virtually no public. Here is my traffic overview report:

Amazing right? Yeah, didn't think so either...

Stats:

Site sessions: 36

Unique visitors: 18

Average sessions duration: 1m 41s

It's both more and less than what I gathered on Reddit and all of that was fully organic. As I've been formerly unemployed for the last 6 months, I don't have the cash right now to invest in paid sources of traffic.

My Strategies

As for the strategies I'm implementing to get things going, the first one on my list was Pinterest. I've heard people raving about it since before publishing the blog and thought I would give it a shot. It's been a little over two weeks since I opened a business account on Pinterest and got around 498 impressions and 377 monthly views, even though it hasn't been a full month yet. There, I've been posting a pin idea and one or two normal pins for every new post I publish here and I can see the wisps of traction beginning to form.

Now, how do I plan on monetizing? How long will that take me?

I plan on monetizing by first and foremost keeping at posting 3x a week. I may not have the same amount of time and energy to do this at this pace in the future and so I started to line up blog posts two weeks in advance.

Once a get a steady growth in the monthly views, I'll research more about premium ad agencies such as MediaVine and AdThrive, but I'll start with and stick to Google Adsense for the rest of the year. On that front, SEO is part of the game. I blog using Wix and their SEO AI Assitant is great.

I started using affiliate links here and there, but nothing major at this point.

As for how long will that take me? I hope I can post my first income report by December, but I have no way of knowing, honestly.

So that was my first month, and I can't wait to see what the next ones will look like.
