What to write about when you don't know what to write about

The 30-day-of-posts challenge I started on the first day of September didn't feel like a challenge initially.

I had taken some days off my posting schedule to brainstorm some themes and subjects, start writing drafts, and think about titles. I was pretty well organized with it, if I do say so myself, and by the time the challenge started, I already had about 12 posts in line, ready to go.

I was on a pretty good routine of writing every day, posting on Pinterest, and developing concepts and topics to write about. Then we had a national holiday followed by the weekend and I fell out of the tracks for almost a week.

My in-laws came to see our new place and stayed with us for a few days, which was amazing, but I definitely felt like my blog productivity dropped dramatically.

When the following week started, I also started a new job in a foreign company. Needless to say, my head was wrapped around my new role, getting to know my colleagues, knowing how things worked, etc... On top of that, the interactions were happening in two other languages.

By the time I was ready to sit down and write, my mind was so drained that I couldn't bring myself to do it.

If you've read the first challenge post and the midway point one, you'll know I had some reasons for starting this challenge and a few goals I wanted to achieve. One of those was finding a system for writing that would fit into my routine and one that I wouldn't need to spend so much mental energy on.

I think this post is me enforcing that on myself. Writing for the sake of writing and putting things out.

So what to write about when you don't know what to write about? If you are facing the same challenges as me, try doing this yourself! Write for the sake of writing, talk about your day, and what's been on your mind, your latest struggles.

This is not my first writer's block and I highly doubt this will be the last, so I find it helpful to walk you (and myself) through this process.

What I'm trying to get across here is that writing is a habit I want to enforce upon myself because I know how much I'll benefit from it in the future. Until then, I'm okay with some growing pains here and there.

I'm sure my creative juices will start flowing again in no time and so will yours.
